This app is developed on the initiative of the Kochi City Police department. It provides women who live in this Indian city with the ability to contact law enforcement in case of an incident.
You have the opportunity to create a personal profile and share your personal information with the authorities. If something bad is happening with you, there is the ability to tap the emergency button.
It is possible to choose what data you want to send to the police station. You can share your location, upload a photo or video, leave a voice or a text message.
NIRBHAYAM also allows you to create a list of contacts that authorities can call if you are in danger. You are able to save phone numbers of your friends, family members or colleagues.
In some way this application reminds of the utility called Citizen, as you can report an incident here as well.
