Unarchiver is a Mac OS utility for expanding basic capabilities of the integrated system archiver. This free solution offers users several important settings and is compatible with almost all existing package formats.
Usage
With the help of this program you can reduce the size of photos, text documents, video clips and any other files. It is helpful for sending large amounts of data over the network.
Like in Winrar Unlock, there are instruments for extracting the contents of compressed archives to the hard drive. Users are able to add or remove files from existing packages. Supported formats include ZIP, RAR, ACE, CAB, TAR, LHA, CBR, EXE, SIT, CBZ and PAX.
Configuration
The application automatically integrates into the operating system. It is possible to choose which file types will be associated with Unarchiver. There is a button for selecting all compatible formats.
Unpacked items are placed in the same directory as the source archive by default. You can set a custom target folder in the Extraction tab.
Users are able to configure filename encoding auto detection parameters. This functionality is helpful for working with non standard characters and hieroglyphics.
