Chronik is a Windows utility oriented toward people interested in the history of the world. It can regularly display pop up windows with interesting facts about the current date. Additionally, you are able to search the database using keywords or phrases to find specific historical events.
Daily updates
After starting the program users can click any date in the integrated calendar to view the list of important events that occurred on that day. Detailed information about public holidays in different countries is provided as well.
Please note that Chronik is discontinued and no longer supported by the developer. It cannot be installed in modern Windows versions. Other apps for learning about history like 1860s Old America are available for download.
Additional instruments
There is a database of historical figures with birth and death dates. Moreover, articles about famous people are accompanied by images and short biographies.
You can manually create new entries by clicking the corresponding button on the main toolbar. The title and category are customizable. It is possible to change the color, style and size of the font as well as align text paragraphs to any border.
