DU Meter is a convenient program for Windows that allows you to monitor different network information directly from your desktop. The installation is quite straightforward and does not require you to perform additional configuration steps.
Monitor network data
The main purpose of this utility is to present data transfer rates as intuitively as possible. In order to do so, it places a resizable window on the desktop which shows real time graphs for the Internet speed and the LAN traffic.
There are also advanced instruments for monitoring active network connections and generating detailed reports. It is possible to create hourly, daily, weekly and monthly analytic documents that contain incoming and outgoing traffic data. If you would like to construct a map of how information travels, you may try another piece of software called Traceroute.
Customizable graphs and stopwatch
The transparent window shows the network information, enabling you to choose between three chart types, namely area, linen and bar. In addition, there are three different modes such as one graph, two separate graphs and two graphs with the zero line in between.
Another useful feature of the tool is the stopwatch. With its help, you are able to track total transferred data, the maximum, the average and the current transfer rate. Alarms may be set up to get notifications when certain milestones are reached.
