EPUBCheck is a simple command-line program for Windows intended for validating files with the EPUB extension. Thus, users can identify a wide range of errors related to OPF and OPS markup, OCF container structure, and internal reference consistency.
Setup notes
It is worth noting that the software does not require installation. However, you need to make sure that you have Java installed on your personal computer. In contrast to ePUB Validator, all actions are performed via command-line interface.
Another important aspect of this tool is that it does not update the Windows registry and Start menu with new entries nor creates extra files on the disk. This means you can safely remove it from your PC and not worry about removing unnecessary traces.
Functionality
Once you open a Command Prompt, all you have to do is specify the path to the desired ePub file and press a single key to initiate the automatic evaluation procedure. The utility will immediately identify and display any errors and warnings.
During our tests we have not encountered any issues, since the program did not crash or show error dialogs. It has a good response time and performs scanning quickly while relying on a low amount of system resources.
