Interactive Thermodynamics is a Windows utility oriented toward college students and scientists. It is designed to complement the Fundamentals of Engineering Thermodynamics textbook written by Moran, Shapiro, Boettner and Bailey.
Main functionality
The app provides specifications for various chemical substances, including carbon dioxide and R410A by querying the Mini REFPROP database. Users are able to perform calculations, plot diagrams and analyze complex systems by applying various thermodynamic principles.
Please note that Interactive Thermodynamics displays all measurements in metric units. Software like Unit Converter is helpful for converting existing values to the Imperial system.
Property tables
It is possible to retrieve information about 28 pure fluids and 21 mixtures. Moreover, you can create a custom combination of existing liquids. The state is configurable by selecting two independent properties such as pressure and temperature. There is an option to save the data as an Excel spreadsheet for further processing.
Diagrams
Users are able to plot detailed thermodynamic property diagrams. Tools for zooming in and out, panning or rotating the chart are provided. Annotations, labels and markers can be added to the project as well.
It is worth mentioning that Interactive Thermodynamics is discontinued and no longer supported by the developer. The installation files are not available.
