Marine Traffic is a Windows software for accessing an interactive world map with all ship routes and real time tracking data. It is possible to view historical information going back 7 years as well. Please note that the free trial version of Marine Traffic offers users limited capabilities.
Live map
You can track individual ships located anywhere in the world. All vessels are split into the following categories:
- cargo;
- tanker;
- fishing;
- pleasure craft;
- passenger vessel;
- tug;
- and unspecified.
Every group has subsections depending on the ship type. Users are able to toggle the visibility of any separate category. Additionally, it is possible to view only vessels of a certain capacity or length. There is an option to filter ships built in a specific year as well.
It is worth mentioning that Marine Traffic does not contain instruments for creating ship blueprints. You can download FREE ship for this purpose.
Advanced functionality
Users are able to access historical information about all port calls and vessel events. Detailed arrival and departure data is available. Moreover, there is a massive online collection of ship images.
Tools for viewing voyage forecasts are included. You can get a list of vessels expected to arrive at a particular port.
