Material Maker is a Windows program that allows users to create procedural materials via a visual, node-based interface built on the Godot Engine. The editor is aimed at artists, game developers and texture designers who want to build various assets for their projects without coding.
Components
It is possible to build textures and materials by connecting modular nodes. Each unit performs specific operations like blending, distorting or generating patterns. This method eliminates manual pixel work and allows for non-destructive editing. Thus, users can rapidly experiment with different configurations.
Instruments
In addition to procedural workflows, there are painting tools to manually edit heightmaps and texture masks. You can use customizable brushes to add organic detail, draw wear patterns or layer imperfections. The app includes a 3D preview option, you are able to check all your changes in real-time.
There is a wide range of noise and pattern generators that help you to create everything from natural wood grain to sci-fi panels. The list includes Perlin, Worley, Voronoi and custom-shaped patterns that can be layered and combined as well.
Features
- advanced users can write and inject custom GLSL shaders directly into the node graph;
- just like F3D, the viewer supports 3D models;
- known for a visual procedural editor with no coding required;
- free to download and use;
- compatible with modern Windows versions.
