Microsoft Expression Encoder is a Windows video encoding software. There are instruments for recording output from external sources. Moreover, users can convert video files from one format to another.
Import
You are able to select the correct capture device from the drop down menu in the main window. Alternatively, there is an option to import video and audio content by clicking the corresponding button in the left bottom corner.
The list of available clips can be sorted by name, file type, status, source, target and many other attributes. It is possible to drag and drop items from the library to the timeline.
Editing process
There are standard playback controls for previewing the project. Additionally, users can split, trim and merge individual clips. Tools for inserting text overlays and custom watermarks are provided.
Encoding parameters
You can choose the required output video quality. Available settings include balanced, fastest and best quality. The resolution and bitrate are adjustable as well. There are advanced enhancements like expression bumper, sample overlay and Microsoft Silverlight trailer.
