Microsoft Silverlight is a program framework for Windows that enables developers to create interactive web apps with multimedia content such as graphics, animations, audio, and video. The project was first released in 2007 as a competitor to Adobe Flash.
Functionality
The utility provides a wide range of features to enhance the end user experience. For example, it supports a variety of formats, including WMV, WMA, MP3, and others. Thus it is possible to deliver high quality multimedia content. There are also tools for creating rich interfaces with interactive controls, animations, and vector graphics.
The developed applications are cross compatible, and thus can run on different operating systems like Windows and MacOS. The robust security functionality prevents unauthorized access to the target user computer. Moreover, developers may create and debug their projects inside MyEclipse.
Additional notes
Microsoft Silverlight was widely utilized for creating web applications and streaming video content. However, the reliance on this software distribution has decreased over the years due to the popularity of HTML5 and its native multimedia capabilities. Microsoft states that the project was discontinued in October 2021. Nevertheless, there is an option to download this collection of instruments from our server.
