Nextcloud is a desktop program for Windows that enables individuals and organizations to upload, sync, and share files. Basically, it serves as a secure alternative to centralized cloud storage solutions like Verizon Cloud.
Installation and launch
After installing the software, you are able to connect to your private server by providing its address and entering the appropriate credentials. It is also possible to configure different parameters, however, this step may be skipped altogether.
In order to access the tool, you need to use its system tray icon. By right-clicking on it, you can pause or resume the synchronization process, open the Nextcloud folder or see detailed information about the server in your browser of choice.
Sync files
The utility allows you to choose which of your cloud folder will be synchronized, as well as monitor all server activity and transfers. This means you can always know which files have been downloaded or uploaded. Please note that the recently transferred items may be viewed from the tray menu.
What is more, you have the option to ignore files and request confirmation before syncing large objects. There is also the ability to limit the bandwidth the program uses to download or upload items. This is done in two modes, either automatically or manually.
