PCSX2 is an open source project which is distributed on a free basis. It requires an original BIOS file from the Playstation 2 console to run properly, which is not included in the emulator package. After installing the utility and configuring the system, you are able to play different PS 2 games on machines running Windows OS.
The main features of the application are support for a considerable amount of console titles, customizable graphics and audio parameters. There is an option to connect a game controller to your computer to have a more authentic experience. There is support for Dualshock, standard Xbox gamepads and other devices which rely on XInput and DirectInput methods.
Gameplay
To play PlayStation 2 games, you need to obtain the corresponding ROMs or ISOs. These files are not available by default and have to be downloaded from specialized websites. The program gives you the possibility to save progress at and continue playing where you left off.
