PlayStation Authenticator is a Windows web service that contains instruments for activating two factor authentication in PlayStation Network accounts. Users can add an extra layer of security to the sign in process.
Main purpose
After opening the official Sony website and logging into the account you can enable two factor authentication to prevent malicious actors from stealing personal information. Please note that a companion mobile app is required for generating unique codes. There are versions for both the iOS and Android operating systems.
How it works
It is necessary to enter the correct one time code created by the mobile application along with the password to access the account. There is an option to store login information in a secure enclave so users will not have to type in the credentials every time.
Please note that PlayStation Authenticator is not an antivirus and does not protect you from keyloggers and other malicious programs. It is recommended to download Panda Cloud Antivirus or another similar solution to further increase the security level.
