Portable TrueCrypt is a software for Windows developed by an eponymous foundation. Users can encrypt the whole disks or selected partitions to secure sensitive information.
Portable version
Despite having limited selection of tools compared to a standalone version, Portable TrueCrypt is still helpful to protect private data by encrypting hard drivers or certain partitions. Users can configure the settings before applying security algorithms and creating a password.
What makes the portable version convenient is that you do not need to install the program thus, avoid generating leftover files, logs, junk and registry entries which unnecessarily consume your disk space. Moreover, you can use Portable TrueCrypt on different computers with saved configurations. In other words, you do not have to spend your time adjusting the settings each time when you are working on several computers.
Risk
Similar to a standalone TrueCrypt, the portable file was officially also replaced with newer software from the same developers. It is called BitLocker that also provides encryption tools allowing you to generate passwords for your partitions and hard drives.
