RoughAnimator is a Windows application for designing animated video clips. It is possible to import audio files and synchronize them with the picture. Supported export formats include MP4 and MOV.
Creation process
Users can draw each frame with provided drawing instruments such as a brush, pen, pencil, marker, fill bucket and eraser. The background color is adjustable. There is support for up to 16 layers per frame. It is possible to change the opacity and blending mode of every section. Various brush settings like smoothing, spacing, jitter and scatter are customizable as well.
The Onion skinning feature allows you to see the previous and next frames as a reference while drawing. This is helpful for ensuring continuity and accuracy of the animation.
Audio
There is an option to import background music from the hard drive or cloud services such as Dropbox and Google Drive. It is easy to sync the audio with the animation using a waveform display and a scrubbing tool. The output volume can be manually tuned.
Export
You can save the resulting animation as a video file or as a sequence of still images. Moreover, instruments for exporting the project as a RAF file for further editing in Adobe Animate CC are available.
