McAfee Stinger is a Windows utility that lets users detect and erase infected files from the hard drive. The list of known threats is located in the Advanced settings menu.
Usage instructions
After starting the software you can begin the scan to find all potential security issues on the hard drive and in the system memory. Suspicious items are automatically placed in the safe quarantine zone. It is possible to restore mistakenly removed files.
Please note that McAfee Stinger provides protection only from specific threats and is not suitable for identifying novel types of viruses. Additional security instruments like Panda Cloud Antivirus are required for ensuring complete security.
Advanced parameters
Users are able to select specific scan targets such as the processes, registry, boot sectors, rootkits and WMI in the Settings menu. There are checkboxes for including subdirectories and checking archives.
This application offers you several behavior options when the threat is detected. It can be repaired automatically, reported via a system notification, renamed or placed in the quarantine.
