SmartSniff is a compact network monitoring and packet capture program available on Windows desktops and laptops. Users can observe and analyze data flow on connected devices.
Capture
It is possible to capture and log real-time packets directly from an active network adapter. The tool monitors TCP traffic flowing through the system and displays the data as clear text for easier understanding. The dashboard may help users diagnose connectivity issues, spot anomalies and more.
There are two distinct capture engines, Raw Sockets and WinPcap. The former provide basic sniffing, while the latter enables deeper packet-level access, including working on WiFi connections. You can easily switch between these options depending on your computer’s details and OS versions.
Grouping
What makes the app convenient is that it groups packets by session, letting you reconstruct conversations between endpoints. It is possible to check HTTP requests and responses. You can also export the captured data to a text file or HTML report for further examination or archival purposes.
Please note that the installer package contains a wide selection of malicious files which may damage your PC. You may use Portable Wireshark as an alternative.
