SoundTap Streaming Audio Recorder is a Windows program for capturing audio output to a file. Instruments for playing back the recordings are available as well. There are flexible output quality parameters. It is worth mentioning that the free version of SoundTap Streaming Audio Recorder offers users limited functionality.
How it works
You are instructed to click Start Recording to begin the capture process. There is a checkbox for including microphone output into the resulting file. The current volume levels of all connected audio devices are displayed in the main window.
Like in RipCast Streaming Audio Ripper, it is possible to launch and record online streams by specifying the URL. Alternatively, users can add music files from the hard drive to the playlist. Tools for converting recordings to different formats, sharing files over email and burning tracks to optical discs are included.
Configuration
The Options button gives you access to recording settings. The default target directory is customizable. Additionally, it is possible to choose the required output file format from the drop down menu. Advanced quality parameters like the sample rate, amount of sound channels, bitrate and encoding mode are available as well.
