Speechify is a Windows utility for integrating a plugin into Google Chrome. It provides instruments for automatically converting written text on a web page to speech. A collection of 130 different voices is provided.
How to use
After installing the extension you are prompted to create an account and select the output language. Additionally, it is possible to listen to various voices and choose the favorite option.
Users can upload PDF files and Word documents to the personal online library. The file list is sortable by name, date and other attributes. There is an option to generate a voiceover audio file and download it to the hard drive.
Please note that the free version of Speechify contains limited functionality. Other similar applications such as Speakonia are available for download.
Playback settings
Instruments for converting the selected text fragment on a web page to speech are included. You are able to quickly switch between the available voices in the pop up window. Moreover, there is a slider for scrubbing through the audio and a button for pausing. The playback speed is customizable as well.
