TASSEL is a comprehensive program for Windows that provides you with tools to investigate the relationship between phenotypes and genotypes. It offers functions for association study, evaluating evolutionary associations, linkage disequilibrium and principal component analysis, missing data imputation and visualization, and more.
General notes
The software solution was designed for a wide range of users, including those not expert in statistical genetics or computer science. It is possible to utilize the mixed linear model model method to incorporate information about population structures and cryptic relationships.
It is necessary to point out that all the analytic processes are performed automatically, including importing phenotypic and genotype data, filtering markers on minor allele frequency, and generating principal components. Additionally, there is an option to optimize compression level.
Intuitive GUI
The graphical interface is organized into four main panels with menus for the functions presented at the top. The Data Tree is dedicated to organizing data sets and results, while the Report Panel displays information about a selected entry from the aforementioned section.
You can also view the progress of running tasks and press buttons to cancel them via the Progress Monitoring Panel. The Main Panel occupies the right side of the viewing area, and shows the content of the chosen data set. If you want to perform mathematical calculations, you may try another utility called Micromath Scientist.
