Tropy is an application for Windows that allows users, especially historians, archivists, and academics, to organize and describe photos of archival documents.
Import
It is possible to upload images from local folders and digital archives, storing them in categorized projects for easy retrieval. Each picture can be grouped by different attributes. Sorting and organizing is quick and intuitive, keeping visual data structured across large collections.
Furthermore, you can assign standardized metadata to each image, including title, date, source, location and notes. Custom templates help enforce consistent entry across projects, aligning with institutional standards or personal research needs. Users are also able to embed references and contextual information.
Tools
Built-in annotation tools help you highlight necessary sections of a picture and attach notes to selected areas.
