VMware Workstation is a program for Windows that enables you to run multiple virtual machines on your operating system. The graphical interface is based on a standard layout, and offers a built-in wizard for creating OS instances by following intuitive instructions. There is also a well-drawn help manual.
Generate virtual machines
First of all, you need to specify the source file. You can install from a disc or from an image in ISO format. Please note that you have the option to pick the guest operating system, which may be either Windows, Linux, Sun Solaris, Metasploitable or other. The next step is to name your virtual machine and define its output folder, as well as allocate the maximum disk size.
Advanced customization
What is more, you have the possibility to store the virtual disk as a single file or split it into multiple items. The latter method simplifies the process of transferring the machine to another PC, yet it could negatively affect the performance.
Additionally, you are able to personalize hardware components, namely memory, processors, CDs, DVDs, floppy, network adapter, sound card, USB controller, printer, display and more. Data may be imported from files with VMX, VMC, OVF or OVA extensions.
