Cluster is an open source program for Windows that implements common clustering methods used for gene expression data analysis. It provides a simple graphical interface for accessing and running the aforementioned routines.
Load information sets
In order to load data into the utility, you need to click Load data file in the File menu. There are a number of options dedicated for adjusting and filtering the information you have imported. These functions are spread across the Filter Data and Adjust Data tabs.
Please note that the software reads tab-delimited text files in a particular format. Such items can be created and exported in any spreadsheet application like Microsoft Excel, for example. You can also get an example datafile via the Help menu. It contains all the information you need for creating an appropriate input set.
Filter and adjust data
The Filter Data tab gives you the ability to remove genes that do not have desired properties from your dataset. It is necessary to point out that filters are not immediately applied to your information. First of all, you are told how many genes are capable of passing this procedure.
From the Adjust Data section, are able to perform a number of operations that alter the underlying data in the imported table. It is possible to Log Transform Data, center and normalize genes or arrays. In case you need to to investigate the relationship between phenotypes and genotypes, you may try a special tool called TASSEL.
- free to download and use;
- compatible with modern Windows versions;
- allows you to process gene expression data;
- you are able to import custom spreadsheets;
- there is an option to set up different filters.
